About Jennifer

Jennifer is a psychotherapist committed to helping individuals discover and embrace their most authentic selves. She has a Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University and has 12 years of experience as a Long Term Care Medical Eligibility Policy Writer for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services with a history in government administration, training & development, and public aid benefits & programs. Jennifer's approach is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and the belief that meaningful growth occurs when individuals feel safe enough to explore who they truly are.

My Philosophy of counseling. My philosophy is grounded in the belief that individuals have the capacity to make meaningful and positive changes in their lives. Rather than simply addressing surface-level symptoms, I prioritize understanding and working through the underlying emotional and behavioral patterns that contribute to distress. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that empowers people to better understand their identity, develop confidence in who they are, and create a life that reflects their values and aspirations. My goal is to help clients cultivate the independence and freedom to move through the world with confidence in themselves and the choices they make.

My Theoretical Orientation. I approach therapy through an eclectic and integrative framework, adapting my methods to meet the unique needs, experiences, and goals of each client. Foundationally, my work is rooted in Client-Centered theory, as I believe meaningful change begins within a strong therapeutic relationship built on honesty, warmth, acceptance, and trust. From this foundation, I take an eclectic approach and incorporate evidence-based practices including ACT, IFS, Gottman and Existentialism to support client to reach self actualization and feel their most authentic self

Beliefs on Change & Clinical Approach. I believe meaningful and lasting change begins with a person's desire to grow and their willingness to engage in the therapeutic process. My role is to foster that motivation by helping clients identify pathways toward change, develop practical coping skills, and build the tools needed to sustain growth over time. I prioritize goal-oriented counseling that empowers individuals to become their most authentic selves, allowing them to move through the world with confidence in who they are and the choices they make. At the heart of this process is a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel free to explore their thoughts, emotions, and identity with authenticity.
